Abstract :
A novel differential detection method in frequency domain spread spectrum systems, called multicarrier spread spectrum chip-level differential detection (MC-SS-CLDD), is proposed. The moment generating function (MGF) of the decision variable and a saddlepoint approximation method are exploited to analyze the BER performance of MC-SS-CLDD. The results of analysis and simulation indicate that, if the coherent bandwidth of the channel does not exceed the occupied bandwidth of two subcarriers, MC-SS-CLDD exhibits a better performance in making the system resistant to frequency-selective fading in the case of narrower channel coherent bandwidth.
