Abstract :
Wind energy conversion systems is now occupying important space in the research of renewable energy sources. There is a need for more research on wind generators, power converter topologies etc. In this paper behavior of wind generator have been studied in MATLAB. Generator used here for study is permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). This paper also provides comparison of different power converter topologies used in wind energy conversion system (WECS). Today many power converter techniques have been developed to integrate WECS with electrical grid. Using power electronics it´s easy to deal with the variable speed behavior of WECS as well as extract more power. Generators available in WECS are permanent magnet generators, induction generator, synchronous generator (PMS), doubly fed induction generator. This paper provides behavior of PMSG at variable wind speed using MATLAB and different converter topologies required in WECS is carried out.
