Abstract :
In this paper, some discontinuities encountered in the microwave circuits are discussed. Then the theoretical foundation and the basic principle of the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) algorithm are introduced briefly. In the principal part of the paper, the FDTD method is applied to simulate and analyze the microstrip bends. With the help of the software of FDTD and Matlab tools, the voltage signal and the reflection parameter of the microstrip bends with different miters are picked up. The results indicate that the transmission characteristics of the microstrip line will get better if the corner is cut properly. The paper also fits the functions between the reflection parameter and the miter size, work frequency. In the end, two judgment standards of the reflection parameter are proposed.
