Abstract :
The paper analyses the effects produced by the unbalanced magnetic pull on the dynamical behavior of a turbo-generator during the transient phase of excitation. These effects are simulated by means of a model realized by the authors and already validated on experimental data. The unbalanced magnetic pull arises not from a fault condition of the machine, but simply from the presence of the oil-film bearings and from the dynamical deformation of the flexible rotor.
