Abstract :
This paper presents an analysis of the influence of the two constituent transverse stiffnesses in 1-3 piezocomposite on the lateral mode frequencies. The analysis uses a membrane model which assumes that lateral resonances are Bragg diffracted transverse waves in the 2-D periodic structure with infinite thickness. The input and output parameters of the model are normalized for computing abaqui giving the variations of shear waves velocity in the composite versus the ceramic volume fraction. Plots of abaqui are presented and used to provide guidelines for the composite design. Then, the behavior of the first lateral resonance frequency of several practical composite structures is discussed. For this, performances of different commercially available ceramics and different loaded, epoxies as matrix are compared. Comparisons show that the phase that must be optimized for spurious modes rejection depends on the volume fraction of ceramic
