Abstract :
Semantic QoS Provisioning (sQoS) is a novel approach to dynamically control the permitted level of QoS per flow. This scheme has been presented in and. Using a prototype, which has been implemented as a QoS-driver for Windows Vista/7, we have shown that our approach does not affect the performance of the hosts. In this paper, we present a simulative performance study of the proposed scheme. On the basis of a new simulation model of the semantic QoS provisioning scheme sQoS, the behavior of the approach is analyzed within several measurements. These focus on the analysis of the automated detection of the execution context and context position as well as the performance of the network traffic. The results show that the sQoS approach performs well in DiffServ environments and increases the overall performance.
