Abstract :
The paper gives an introduction to an S-band klystron, KS-58, which has considerable broad bandwidth under relatively low peak output power. Specifically, with a center frequency of 2900 MHz, a peak output power of 700 kW, an average power of 10 kW, and a pulse duration of 46-56 μs, a broad bandwidth of 300 MHz (10% of the center frequency) is achieved. Due to its desirable features, a KS-58 tube, which has been recently developed in Institute of Electronics, Chinese Academy of Science, is of interest to specialists developing radar systems. Is the paper, the techniques adopted to obtain the above features, such as Resonant Coupled-Cavity Input circuit (RCCI), Resonant Coupled-Cavity Output circuit (RCCO) and clustered-cavity, are described, and hot test results are given to demonstrate the validity of these techniques
