Abstract :
Abstract: A pig from a commercial pig farm was confirmed to be infected with hemoplasma by microscopic examination in Shanghai, China. However, PCR assay was always negative by using primers that specific of Mycoplasma suis. Therefore, primers that amplified the conserved region of 16S rDNA gene were designed. Phylogenic tree was constructed based on the resulting 16S rDNA sequence, which showed the present hemoplamsa strain is highly similar with Mycoplasma wenyonii (M. wenyonii). This is the first report describing the infection of M. wenyonii in swine blood, which indicated the occurrence of interspecies transmission of hemoplasma is more frequent than our previous thought.
