Abstract
Maya is thought as the strongest 3D developing software, especially the complicated scene, which inheritted the characteristics of extendibility and adjustability. In the paper, the film 3D animation design based on Maya is proposed. The detailed creating process of animation by maya are described, which includes five stages of modelling, material, map design, light and camera, animation. The cartoon “Hero Laura” is applied as the experimental object to study the performance of 3D animation design by Maya and the design process of the cartoon “Hero Laura” is given in the study. The key design steps of the cartoon “Hero Laura” include modelling, person skeleton frame and animation design. According to the design steps of the cartoon “Hero Laura”, the animation “Hero Laura” is designed. The experimental effects indicate that the 3D animation design by Maya is effective.
