  • Abstract
One of the main features of slow-wave structures (SWS), intended for electromagnetic wave amplification or for the acceleration of electron beams, is the presence of a longitudinal electric field, with a relatively uniform distribution in the SWS cross-section. A new type of SWS corresponding to the mentioned requirement is presented in this work. The axially symmetric E-type electromagnetic wave is excited in a tube with a relative permeability μ in the azimuth direction. The excited wave has the same components as the E01 wave in a cylindrical waveguide and propagates along the magnetic tube with deceleration. The analysis has shown, that the field of the E01 wave in a magnetic tube has a structure which is optimum for interaction with an electron beam. The creation in the future of a magnetic material with small electromagnetic losses will allow one to realize the proposed SWS for high-power devices
