Abstract :
During the last few decades in Russia broadband microwave amplifiers based on the multi-beam klystron with packed permanent magnet focusing system have gained a wide acceptance. The traditional arrangement of the transit channels with their centers to be located on the concentric circles has a substantial disadvantage-the complicated heat removal from the inner channel rows. This problem shows itself in the klystrons with packed reverse magnet system, where up to 20% of the electron flow power is deposited in the space of the last pole piece. The effective solution of this problem is to locate the transit channel centers in one or two linear rows; it means their linear arrangement. In this report the electrodynamics system (EDS) of the broad decimeter band klystron with transit channel linear arrangement and the output power up to some tens of kW in continuous operating regime is considered. The pole pieces of this klystron had rectangular form and the magnets are arranged over the long side of the pole pieces, so the reverse magnet focusing system (RMFS) was not axial but plane symmetric
