Abstract :
Microwave Doppler detectors show the best detectivity among other motion detectors for alarm systems. Microprocessors allow one to use complex signal processing algorithms for noise-immunity improvement. However, to select an algorithm and identify a decision-making criterion, one should study in more detail the characteristics of signals generated by sensitive elements of the detector. The present article has the following objectives: to reveal the characteristics of Doppler signals and apply them to alarm systems; to determine respective analytical ratios to be used in a respective mathematical model; to identify additional evidence and criteria to improve the reliability of decisions on whether or not an intruder is present
