Abstract
In this paper, the authors firstly develop an analysis of the state of the art of tubular linear induction motors (TLIMs) with particular reference to the different constructive topologies both of the inductor and of the induced part. A mathematical model in cylindrical coordinates of the TLIM is investigated recognizing the performance achievable in function of electrical, magnetic and geometric parameters. Afterwards, different characteristics curves of the TLIM are obtained by implementation of the mathematical model. Finally, some possible applications of the TLIM are shown
