Abstract
In this paper we report on the application of external electric field and its effect on the guiding properties of composite AgPO3-glass/silica photonic bandgap fibers. The electrical field applied induces silver clustering and polarisation effects in the soft phosphate glass inclusion, leading to the formation of silver induced plasmonic band at the short length guiding region. Transmission characteristics of the composite photonic crystal fibers revealed introduction of various polarization states upon exposure of fibers on external electric field.
