Abstract :
A general Lp,q-metric, p,q>0, on a probability space is defined and the corresponding optimality criterion derived. This criterion is applied to the estimation of complex impulsive interference in communication receivers represented by scalar state-space equations. For arbitrary i.i.d. interference sequence and any discrete-type complex signal sequence, a family of optimal L p,q-metric interference estimators is developed. As a test, these algorithms are applied to estimate highly impulsive state processes driven by noise with symmetric α-stable distribution. The new interference estimators can be incorporated in CDMA/TDMA wireless systems to suppress the multiuser interference
