Abstract
Relatively straight-forward modifications of an electronic (TV-like) imaging camera are proposed that allow the parallel recording of multiple bandpass image energy distributions that are analogous to the outputs of pre-cognitive image processing structures of the human brain. Key elements of the system include (a) bandpass spatial filtering by pupil modification of an incoherent imaging system, (b) separation of spatial lowpass and spatial bandpass structures by temporal modulation of the bandpass distribution, (c) detection of the temporally modulated distribution by appropriate camera detector elements, and (d) multiplexing of multiple spatial bandpass channels in the system
