Abstract
This paper introduces a new wireless networking approach to multiparameter vehicle navigation systems based on ant algorithm. The proposed system finds the optimum multiparameter route between a pair of origin and destination (O/D). The importance rate of each parameter is adjustable by the user. This system acquires traffic data in online and offline modes. In online mode, traffic data are available from a traffic control center (TCC) using wireless networks. In this mode, an artificial neural network (ANN) is employed for traffic estimation of future minutes as the journey time delay is considered. In offline mode, traffic and other required data are available from the system memory, which contains statistical and historical data of parameters. In order to have a more user friendly system, the system is able of recommending more than one direction as well as considering previous selected routes of the user. The proposed system is simulated on a part of Kerman city, Iran, and the results indicate its feasibility and performance.
