Abstract
In this paper, a new approach on nondestructive evaluation by ultrasonic signal is proposed. The work is based on a parametric spectral analysis with linear prediction for a sharp and precise analysis. The paper contains a description of quantitative analysis method of rocks acoustic properties and a description of a qualitative analysis method based on autoregressive (AR) spectral estimation. The diagnosis done by the prediction error when the spectra (or power spectral density) present quick changes, which indicate the existence of microcracks and pores inside the specimen.
