Abstract :
This project employed a field study approach to explore how companies can use open buying on the Internet (OBI), an open, flexible design for business-to-business Internet commerce solutions, to enhance their procurement processes. In this study, based on the findings of the field study, I discuss features and functions that these companies preferred to have as well as how OBI can have a potential to assist purchasing managers or other managers in making managerial decisions. With a better understanding of the features and functions that companies may desire, software engineers will be able to design packaged electronic commerce solutions to streamline the purchasing process
