Abstract :
A novel class of fiber-optic all-optical filters which employ optical amplifiers is attracting considerable attention due to the possibility of obtaining reconfigurable structures with unique spectral characteristics not attainable with passive configurations. We present what to the best of our knowledge is the first complete theoretical and experimental characterization (modulus, phase and group delay) of a delay line fibre-optic active filter. The experimental results are in good agreement with those of the theory
