Abstract
A nonlinear model is introduced which contains the boiler-turbine-generator dynamic characteristics of the power generation unit. A new nonlinear controller is designed based on the backstepping approach that takes consideration of dynamics of the entire boiler-turbine-generator system. It consists of two sub- controllers, namely, a main steam valve controller and a fuel flow controller. The proposed nonlinear controller can ensure that the closed loop system is asymptotically stable, and can improve the electromagnetic power regulating performance. Simulation results are shown to demonstrate its feasibility.
