Abstract :
Requirements engineering for very expensive systems and technologies which need to operate in uncertain policy settings and likely to evolve over time are particularly challenging. Such issues arise frequently, especially with major infrastructure projects. One of the most challenging versions of this situation is the area of large renewable energy power systems which are currently being commissioned at a time of great uncertainty about policies on climate change and emissions control. In this talk the general issues associated with the requirements engineering problems in this specific class of systems will be surveyed with particular reference to renewable energy power matters.
