Abstract
For packet video transmission over heterogeneous networks, a novel Priority-Aware Two Rate Three Color Marker (PATRTCM) method is presented in this paper. PATRTCM introduces three marking probabilities that are calculated according to the importance of the video packet and the network conditions. A video packet is marked red, yellow or green based on the probabilities in the wired DiffServ networks, and mapped to the queues on the IEEE 802.11e MAC layer. Simulation results show that PATRTCM can improve the quality of video streaming over heterogeneous networks.
