Abstract
This paper presents a soft switching single-stage converter with a buck-boost type of power factor corrector (PFC) based on an asymmetrical half-bridge topology. The proposed converter is formed from a buck-boost PFC and an asymmetrical half-bridge converter. The converter has the features of constant frequency operation, soft switching and low voltage stress imposed on the active switches. Moreover, it can achieve high power factor, high efficiency, low switching losses and low component counts, which make converter applications at medium power levels feasible. In the paper, a 150 W converter with the proposed topology has been designed and implemented to verify the discussed features
