Abstract
This paper is concerned with the evaluation of distributed object technologies with an emphasis on performance. The goal is to study the differences in design and implementation of these systems and their behavior within heterogeneous distributed environments. Java is an important programming language for networking and distributed applications and is arguably the most popular object oriented programming language. This is part of the reason for the popularity of Java remote method invocation (RMI) and hence our choice of distributed object technologies to evaluate.
