Abstract :
The Draft Trial-Use Guide for Collecting, Categorizing and Utilization of Information Related to Electric Power Distribution Interruption Events provides a wealth of examples of how to use interruption data as an aid to making decisions on investments or operational improvements to achieve reliability ends. This paper presents selected reliability analysis and decision making techniques at PECO, and makes reference to related sections of the trial use guide. Topics discussed include measures of effectiveness of an existing distribution automation system, improvements in reliability to the area fed by one substation, storm restoration performance today relative to prior years, and a trial prioritization method for areas with frequent interruptions.
