Abstract :
Protection of the most common Distributed Generation (DG) resources is presented. The goal is to prepare a general guideline for most utilities to design proper protection schemes for Photovoltaic (PV) and Wind generators. IEEE standards are addressed and various issues caused by step up transformer configuration, feeder load, capacitor banks, generation type and possible adjacent generation are discussed. Solutions are recommended for the identified DG interconnection issues. A real sample grid is simulated for most case studies.
