Abstract
An algorithm to estimate 2-D line spectra by performing a least-squares fit of a superposition of 2-D complex exponentials to measured data is developed. An equivalent deconvolution algorithm is developed for estimating the parameters of point scatterers in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. Performance capabilities and limitations of the algorithm are discussed. It is concluded that, for SAR applications, the algorithm provides accurate estimates of point scattering parameters which degrade gracefully as the signal-to-noise decreases
