Abstract :
The aim of this research is to develop a robot that can achieve natural listening behavior in real world environment relying only on the nonverbal aspects of the speaker (human) behavior. In this paper, a preliminary system that can simulate head movements during natural interactions on a Robovie II humanoid robot is reported along with its current limitations and the future directions of research toward improving the system and incorporating learning mechanisms into it.
