Abstract :
In recent years research of active power filters (APFs) has mainly concentrated on voltage-source systems. Although the voltage-source PWM technology has been said to have several advantages over the current-source technology, some attention in research has been paid to current-source active power filters. In this paper the two active filter topologies are compared. First, the space-vector modulation techniques and main circuits are studied and the digital control systems are presented. The filtering performance of the systems with different kinds of load is presented and finally the power losses of the filters are examined. The comparison is based on the measurements with built prototypes
