Abstract
This paper introduces a unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) laboratorial prototype, with a digital control strategy based on the instantaneous power theory (pq-theory) simplifications. The proposed conditioner is capable of being connected in three-phase three-wire systems. An interesting point concerns in the simplifications at the control strategy; the number of measurements was reduced, allowing computational efforts reduction. The proposed conditioner is suitable to deal with instantaneous power factor regulation, harmonics, and unbalances present at the load currents and the supply voltages as well. The proposed control algorithm performance is verified and experimentally validated on a 4.5 kVA three-phase three-wire laboratorial prototype UPQC. The digital controller was implemented in a fixed point digital signal processor (DSP)
