Study and practice of website-assisted college English teaching

Computer assisted language learning and teaching has become an important approach in modern education. The paperexpounds the significance of the development of a website for self-directed college English study. It introduces the characteristics and functions of the website developed to assist college English teaching. It illustrates the application of the website in the practice of both English major and non-English major students´ teaching in Changchun Institute of Technology. It also points out the problems currently existing among teachers and students, and then puts forward some suggestions and strategies for the improvement of the application of the website.
