Abstract
In the UDDI mechanism, the description of the services is based on syntax and excludes semantics. Thus, machines cannot understand the semantics of web services. Besides, the UDDI-based search does not efficiently make use of the Input and Output (IO) properties of the services. In order to improve the precision ratio and the recall ratio of service discovery, the effective method is to add semantic information into the description of web services to implement semantic matching of web services. These effects limit the precision ratio and the recall ratio of service discovery to some extent. This paper analyzes the defects of current semantic matching methods and presents a new semantic matching algorithm of web services based on the improved semantic distance.
