Abstract :
Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) technology is gaining an increasing interest and becoming significantly critical in many industrial fields - including shipping and container ports. The latter are a natural place for the development of innovative cognitive solutions due to the complex processes and systems involving both human resources and artificial systems. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of RFID´s implementation in some selected container ports, and explain its strengths and weaknesses.
