Abstract :
In order to cost effectively maximise the capacity of the Tasmanian power system to transfer energy to Basslink, the Tasmanian System Protection Scheme was designed and implemented. The System Protection Scheme comprises two separate systems: the Frequency Control System Protection Scheme which limits the impact on frequency of a fault on Basslink and the Network Control System Protection Scheme which increases transmission corridor capacity. This paper is intended to provide the reader with a high level understanding of the Network Control System Protection Scheme and its design enhancement to accommodate the evolution of the Tasmanian power system.
