Abstract :
Work has commenced on the development of an international standard for high-level Petri nets within the ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7/WG11 (Software Engineering Data Description and Representation). A ballot on subdividing Project 7.19 (Diagrams for Software Engineering) was held in the last half of 1995, and resulted in the subdivision being approved. The first Working Draft (WD) was circulated to members of Working Group 11 for discussion at the Ottawa interim meeting in October 1996. The result of this meeting was that a revised WD is currently being circulated to SC7 for comment. We hope to circulate the revised draft as a Committee Draft in the middle of 1997, and to progress the document to a Draft International Standard by 1998. This paper provides the background, scope, justification and current status of this project
