Abstract
Taking an example of the key disciplines in Tianjin´s colleges and universities, the original multi-indicators were sorted and their meanings or significances were interpreted in accordance with natural and social science categories. All of the methods were based on factor analysis and the common component calculated from the Component Matrix. A comprehensive evaluation model was established. According to different categories, Tianjin´s key disciplines were comprehensively evaluated and sorted by calculating the overall scores of the samples. The paper initiated the using of factor analysis on a comprehensive evaluation of subjects to sort. It was the first time for a comprehensive evaluation and sorting on Tianjin´s key subjects. An empirical research was done to the key investment disciplines of Tianjin´s 11th Five-Year Plan.
