Abstract :
This paper presents an overview of the Sub-Synchronous Control Interaction (SSCI) problem for type 3 (DFIG) wind turbines, showing actual system SSCI recordings compared to simulated waveforms. Critical or unstable wind farm control loops in generic wind turbine models are identified, and simulation requirements for SSCI studies are discussed, including guidelines for EMT analysis and the inadequacy of phasor based tools for SSCI analysis.
