Abstract
Application of cell sectorization with small sectors as a means to improve the CDMA system signal to interference ratio (SIR) and hence capacity is investigated. To reduce the inter-sector handoff overheads, asynchronous CDMA with mobile transparent handoffs are considered. The system performance in terms of average and fading range of the SIR is evaluated and compared with a conventional omnidirectional RAKE receiver. The effects of system and environment parameters on the performance are investigated
