Abstract :
Automation systems of distributed generators can also be used for power system protection, so that protective relays can be omitted. This paper proves the feasibility of this approach. First a use case from the field of wind power specifies protection functions. Those are then implemented on a programmable logic controller. Finally this prototype is validated in comparison to the state of technology.
