Abstract
The authors describe a software engineering tool named Ada Programming Assistant System (APAS). The purpose of this tool is to aid a software designer or maintainer working on a large Ada program. APAS manages two kinds of program database, global and local, and provides convenient commands for retrieving information from these program databases. Using these program databases APAS improves the reusability and understandability of software. The authors introduce the C Information Abstractor System, which they have found to be a very useful tool but one in need of some improvement, especially to increase reusability.<>
