Abstract
The IEEE 802.11e has defined a standard for power saving in mobile terminals by introducing sleep mode operation for conserving power during traffic idle period. In this paper we present M/G/1 type vacation model with non exhaustive service discipline. A vacation period can be defined as the period in between two consecutive service period, where as the vacation can be interpreted as sleep interval. The modified service policy is that, if no customer arises during the vacation period, the server will wait for a random amount of time which is exponentially distributed after the vacation terminates. We have derived the (PGF) of stationary queue length distribution and found out the mean waiting time.
