Abstract
Taking the factor analysis problem of tone color, this paper finds that a semantically inconsistent correlation may occur if conventional factor analysis is applied to the data rated by the semantic differential in order to construct the correlation matrix. This paper proposes a new association analysis between two variables not using the correlation, and constructs a new factor analysis on the new association. The validity and usefulness of the proposed method, and the differences between it and the conventional technique are presented and discussed by comparison.
