Abstract :
This paper examines the effect of inverter-based series compensation on the frequency-domain characteristics of a transmission line´s series impedance. The two principal approaches proposed in the literature for control of inverter-based series compensators are considered; in each case the possibility of the inverter-based compensator exciting subsynchronous resonance in neighbouring turbine-generators is considered and the impact of its control design on such resonances examined
