Abstract :
We are applying the data visualization method using pictorial keygraph to the data on RFID tags attached to books browsed in a book library and apparel stores. From the visualized map, we find (1) customers start from the items which are easy to notice, (2) later converge to items not so outstanding (rare in the RFID data) items but connected from the items in (1), and (3) then notice his/her own latent interest in non-popular items more strongly, by looking at the visualized map and doing some interaction with the items or with us who are designer of the experimental environment. This presents a method for discovering latent interest of customers in the real space of the store, and for enhancing the popularity of non-popular items, by integrating the effects of RFID sensors and the process of chance discovery.
