Abstract :
We have proposed a new method to design all-pass based QMF banks with approximately linear phase (ALP). As well as producing a lower overall system delay than the equaliser method, the resultant system is more efficient whilst also having ALP sub-band filters. The effects of using finite wordlength coefficients have been examined and it has been shown that for ALP designs, the use of coefficient wordlengths greater than 8 bits is unlikely to be worthwhile
