Abstract :
In this paper design and optimization of low cost, wideband, compact printed rectangular ultra wide band (UWB) antenna at lower edge frequency is proposed and investigated. Antenna is fed by microstrip line. Antenna is having a rectangular patch and modified ground structure. Bandwidth enhancement is obtained by modifying the destructive ground plane structure (DGS). Antenna has been simulated using full wave electromagnetic software CAD FEKO using method of moment. -10db return loss bandwidth of 4.1GHz and VSWR bandwidth(VSWR≤2) of 4.04GHz is obtained for the proposed compact antenna with a dimensions of 12mm(W) × 14mm(L) × 1.6mm(h).
