Abstract
This paper presents an improved approach for online computation of reactive power contributions from various reactive sources to meet the reactive load demand and reactive power loss based on the network power flow using Y-bus method. The equivalent model of the line is considered by separating the shunt part of the transmission line and integrating into nearby buses for proper accounting of reactive power support produced by the line charging capacitances, as separate reactive power sources like conventional capacitors in the ancillary service market. Detailed case study with base case and optimised case is carried on a modified IEEE-30 bus system. The proposed approach is also compared with proportional sharing method to highlight the associated advantages. Simulations result show that the proposed approach provides fair and accurate results in comparison with other method.
