Communication between substations and diffuse generators: Experimental activity in ERSE

At present time, wide penetration of distributed generators is limited, among other factors, by improper behaviour of interfaces: sometimes they disconnect the generator when a simple voltage dip occurs or, even worse, they continue functioning in case of network outage (unintentional islanding). A communication between substation and diffuse generators may overcome these problems. This paper explores main features that future protection systems should provide, and reports experimental data about communication performances.
