Abstract :
Summary form only given. Underpinning successful products in industrial automation, network power systems and process management, are not only significant developments in existing technologies but also new emerging paradigms. Wireless sensor technology is being successfully deployed in the oil and gas industry; new power semiconductor devices and embedded communications therein is going to enable an unprecedented level of digital power control - leading to higher power densities and greater efficiencies. Nanotechnology holds great promise - additives for process measurement, lubricants for power transmission. This talk will focus on some of these and related technologies and illustrate how they drive the development of products in Emerson Electric Co. - a diversified global technology company.
